DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Science Laboratory Technology was established about 46years ago at the inception of the Polytechnic. Initially, the Department consisted of four units namely; Applied chemistry, Biochemistry, microbiology and physics/electronics. The Department was unbundled into five Departments in December, 2025. The current Science Laboratory Technology Department offers National Diploma only (Morning and Evening) The programme is designed to produce technicians capable of carrying out various laboratory, analytical and practical work under the supervision of a technologist.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME.
- Assist in chemical analysis in laboratory in education institution, food and chemical industries, research institute etc.
- Assist in biological experiments and investigation in industrial and institutional laboratories, farm, museum and other establishments
- Assist in physics experiments in institution and industries.
- Supervise laboratories in educational and other institutions.
- Assist in organizational and management of scientific warehouses.
- Assist in marketing and distribution of scientific equipment and consumables.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The Applicant must possess five credit papers in SSCE/NECO/GCE in not more than two sittings. The credits must include Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology and Physic

HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Dr (Mrs) Funmilola Ayodele Ishaya. HND, PGD (Industrial chemistry), B.SC (Industrial chemistry), M. Tech (Analytical Chemistry), PhD (Food Chemistry). MCSN, MICCON, MIPAN is a chief lecturer and the head of Science Laboratory Technology Department with many years of experience in teaching, research. academic leadership and student mentorship. Her research interest focuses on food chemistry, food security and sustainable research aimed at improving nutrition and addressing global food challenges
As an academic leader, she has contributed to the training and mentoring of students in scientific research and laboratory practices.
Outside the academic environment. She enjoys music and singing reflecting her vibrant personality and passion for creative expression.
